Our Judges

In order to keep clear the meaning of the results from the Open Show the following information should be helpful:

Points will be tallied on a one horse, one rider basis. Make sure you understand how this rule works!

  1. Equitation points will not be combined when different mounts are used.
  2. Pleasure points will not be combined when one horse is shown by several people.
  3. Daily highpoint awards will also be tallied on a one horse, one rider basis. The same horse must be used in each of the different classes.
  4. Year-end awards will also be based on this rule

What this means to you ...

If you ride multiple horses - make certain you use one horse for the entire division, don’t have one English horse and one Western horse, for example. If you have multiple horses, don't use one this month and a different one next month, because those points will be totaled separately. It is OK to have one horse for the "Walk Trot Jog Open" division, and yet a different horse for the "Hunter o/fences-2ft. Open" division, for example. Each of those would be scored as a separate horse/rider combo. If you share a horse with someone else - no problem, just keep your classes separate. Points will be kept separately.

Exceptions to the one horse, one rider rule ...

Lead line exhibitors are not required to have a declared point horse (this is because many lead line exhibitors use borrowed horses). Halter horses may be shown by more than one member and the points will accumulate on the horse (this is because there are occasions when the exhibitor has more than one halter horse which must enter the same class). Equitation Points may be combined in case of an injured or sold horse, but permission must be obtained from the Board. Please see your By-Laws to learn the procedures.
