Welcome to the Ramona Santana Riders Open Show Season. RSR Open Show invites members of all ages, from 4 and 5 year olds in halter classes to those of us a bit older in the Jack Benny 35 and older class. We offer English and Western styles judged in Equitation and Pleasure and a lot more. Please check our class list to see our full list of available classes. We hope you enjoy riding with our club and we would like to remind you: Where else in San Diego county can you show for less than $5.00 a class and with, No ground fees, No drug fees, No warm up fees.
Please remember that in order to accumulate points toward year end class and division awards, the rider must have a current membership and the horse must be registered as a point horse for that rider. Several people have ridden horses that were not listed as a point horse for them and will not receive year-end points for those rides. Horses listed for siblings or other family members are not automatically available to all family riders and must be listed explicitly for each rider. Please check with Membership Chairman Debbie Bray @ 789-3344 for assistance
Michelle Grady was a young rider in the Ramona area who passed away in 2000. In memory of Marilyn Palmer's daughter, the Ramona Santana Riders created a horsemanship pattern class in the Open Show in 2001 for riders 17 & under in Michelle's name, and also established a scholarship fund to promote continuing education for local riders. The fees charged for this class (which will not be part of the day fee available to members) will fund a Scholarship to be awarded to a graduating Senior. The express purpose of Ramona Santana Riders is to promote good horsemanship, and an appreciation for all equines. For these reasons, this Scholarship is being offered to a graduating senior from High School who is a resident of Ramona. To be considered for the Michelle Grady Memorial Scholarship, the senior must have had some involvement with horses, must have plans for some continuing education, and must have achieved at least a 2.5 grade point average. The grade point average and the type of continuing education planned will have no bearing on choosing the recipient. At the end of the year, the member who has accumulated the most points for the class will have his or her name inscribed on the perpetual trophy, and will receive the Michelle Grady Memorial Medal.
Please in these difficult times help us hold the line on costs by participating as a member in RSR and visit one of our frendly sponsors
